The Role:
As a Production Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our manufacturing department while upholding the highest standards of Health & Safety (H&S) and Quality. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, you will be tasked with overseeing daily production activities, focusing on maintaining a safe working environment, ensuring quality standards are met, and optimizing productivity to maintain an efficient manufacturing operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead and manage a team to achieve targets in H&S, Productivity, Quality, costs, absence and time-management.
- Ensure the team remains motivated and that team members are aware of and align with the company's values.
- Maintain a high standard of communication with the team and ensure the timely and accurate passing of information as provided by the management team.
- To lead by example, set and uphold the highest standards of performance, absence and time management.
Health & Safety (H&S):
- Uphold a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with risk assessments, standard operating procedures, and best practices.
- Monitor and enforce adherence to safety protocols, mitigating potential hazards effectively.
- Ensure any safety equipment provided is being sufficiently cleaned and maintained.
- Investigate near miss reports and suggest and implement solutions.
- Conduct regular SUSA audits (weekly as a minimum) and address any potential hazards or safety concerns promptly.
- Liaise with the H&S Manager and communicate toolbox talks and awareness training to the team.
- Complete all mandatory H&S documentation requested by the H&S Manager in a timely manner.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and compliance among team members.
Training and Performance Management:
- Ensure team members are adequately trained to meet business needs, with ongoing assessments to align skills with demand.
- Identify skills gaps within the team and liaise with Production Manager to suggest and schedule training to fill gaps and ensure long term business continuity.
- Monitor and manage individual performance and behaviour, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Quality Assurance:
- Implement quality control measures to maintain product quality and consistency.
- Conduct quality inspections and audits to identify defects and ensure adherence to specifications.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to resolve quality issues and implement preventive measures.
Operational Excellence:
- Drive production performance to meet customer requirements, maintaining high levels of quality, productivity, and efficiency.
- Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes and enhance quality standards.
Housekeeping and Communication:
- Maintain high housekeeping standards within the production environment.
- Conduct regular briefing sessions to keep the team informed of area and business performance against defined KPIs.
Support Functions:
- Assist in the development of Risk Assessments, standard operating procedures, and other necessary documentation for the department.
