TEAM LEADER - GLAZING DERPARTMENT


Distinction Doors has been revolutionising the home improvement sector since it was founded in 2004. We are the UK's leading composite door supplier offering bespoke, premium doors with an extensive colour palette to create wonderful entrances to people's homes. We are based in South Yorkshire, between Sheffield and Barnsley.

We have an opportunity for a Team Leader to join our team on a full-time (37.5 hours) basis on our afters shift (14.00 - 22.00). This particular role will be looking after the Glazing Department as a main focus with cover for other areas, as needed.

The Role



Leading and motivating team members to ensure team and environment are safe and compliant. The Team Leader reports directly to the Manufacturing Shift Manager and is responsible for ensuring the team maintain output and flow throughout the shift to deliver On Time in Full (OTIF) right first time.

Building effective relationships with department team members, leading by example, driving productivity and effectively communicating with stakeholders.

The Team Leader must lead by example, demonstrating the company values; integrity, unity and trust.

Key Responsibilities


Team Management:



Responsible for all department team members, carrying out people responsibilities to include, but not limited to; Complete start of shift brief and end of brief, daily Regular one to one meeting with team members Overseeing team attendance; monitoring the absence calls in line with the Absence Management Policy Prioritising return to work interviews, escalating via the Absence Management Policy as required Overseeing recruitment and onboarding for the department, shortlisting/ conducting interviews, ensuring effective onboarding and managing probation up to pass/ fail Performance management; managing informal and formal capability procedures alongside HR Conduct management; leading investigations as required, to include escalation to Disciplinary Hearings as necessary Motivate, guide and support team members to ensure output and flow is to schedule throughout the shift. Identify training needs for team members and with the Manufacturing Shift Manager and HR team, arrange relevant training at the appropriate time, ensuring the skills assessment process is followed. Ensure department training plan is kept up to date in conjunction with the Learning and Development Manager. Demonstrate the company values and ensure team members demonstrate the skills, competencies and behaviours required.

Achieve the required product Quality:



Ensure product is of right quality Monitor quality key performance indicators and implement corrective actions Partner the quality team to reduce quality non-conformances Lead the team members to improve right first-time manufacture by ensuring adherence to process and accuracy of works completed Ensure team members are identifying quality issues before passing work to the next department Conduct quality audits on a weekly basis, reviewing outcomes and escalating appropriately

Achieve the required delivery OTIF:



Start the shift promptly and organise the shift throughout in a timely manner Complete any Toolbox Talks (TBTs), as required Ensure department plan is achieved through effective management and deployment of the team Spot issues and improvements and take immediate action Escalate any issues effecting delivery of this plan, as soon as they are known, to the Manufacturing Shift Manager

Achieve the required operational Productivity:



Ensure strict adherence of all processes and ensure the flow of product is continuous, feeding the other departments to ensure the plan is adhered to Monitor key performance indicators, ensuring production efficiencies and driving corrective actions Support Continuous Improvement Across Department Identify poor performance and bad practice, whilst identifying improvement opportunities and take appropriate action Encourage and contribute to the continuous improvement culture in department

Health, Safety and Environmental:



Ensure rigorous compliance to standards set in your department Keep a clean and safe workplace throughout the shift Escalate matters of non-compliance, seeking advice from HR to ensure consistency Conduct health and safety audits, on a daily basis

Education and Knowledge:



A strong understanding of the manufacturing industry, ideally within fenestration. The ability to demonstrate good people management skills. At least one years' experience working within a team leader, supervisory, or management role (

desirable

). Level 3 Leadership & Management qualification, or working towards, or equivalent (

desirable)
