About the role



At Balfour Beatty, we are proud to be part of the delivery team for HS2, the UK's flagship high-speed rail programme, and a once-in-a-generation project shaping the future of sustainable transport and construction innovation.



We are currently seeking experienced Project Managers to join our Regional Buildings team, supporting the delivery of five reinforced concrete buildings that will house critical mechanical & Electrical (MEP) plant infrastructure along the route. These highly engineered buildings form an integral part of HS2's operational systems and represent a unique blend of heavy civil engineering and complex building construction.



If you're a talented Project Manager ready to lead, inspire, and make a difference, we want to hear from you - You'll have full accountability for delivering a complex project from start to finish - from initiation and planning to delivery and handover. You'll be the driving force behind the project's success, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and resources to meet time, cost, quality, and safety objectives.



You'll lead with purpose and energy, acting as a change agent who can inspire, motivate and empower. With a sharp eye for detail and strong commercial awareness, you'll ensure every part of the project stays on track.

What you'll be doing



Have overall accountability for successful project delivery including; initiation,

procurement, planning, design, resourcing, delivery, monitoring, commissioning and


handover/close out.
Change agent that provides management, leadership and inspires a multi-disciplinary team to achieve a common goal. Determine the most appropriate means of satisfying customer/project requirements, objectives and constraints; time, cost, quality, scope, risk and benefits. Motivate and guide cross-functional teams including engineers, construction managers, and support functions. Champion safety with a Zero Harm mindset - conducting regular site tours and safety audits. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including subcontractors and clients. Drive performance through strategic decision-making and effective resource management.


Who we're looking for



The following qualities/experience are essential:


Able to demonstrate a track record of project delivery Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts Proficient in commercial/project management communications Experience in implementing safe systems of work Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the organisation Effective team management skills which empower, influence & inspire others to build effective teams. Providing mentoring and support to members of the team where required Commercially astute Able to undertake work in high pressure situations Good knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics Record of a solution-based approach to problem solving Ability to see the business vision and inspire this shared vision amongst the team

The following qualities/experience are desirable:


Experience of working on a variety of project types Member of a professional management body i.e. APM Proficient on O365
