Overview:

We are seeking a capable and ambitious Project Manager to join our Military Air team at Preston. This role is ideal for someone with a minimum of 2 years' project management experience who is eager to develop their career within a high-profile defence environment. You will be involved in the delivery of military projects, contributing to national security and technological advancement. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong project management skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage projects (low to medium complexity) from initiation through to delivery, ensuring scope, schedule, cost, and quality objectives are met. Support bid and business development activities, including requirements capture, scope definition, cost estimation, and scheduling. Develop and maintain integrated project plans, budgets, and schedules. Monitor project performance and apply robust control and change management processes. Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, escalating issues as necessary. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders, and customers. Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards, customer processes, and legal regulations. Drive continuous improvement and contribute to the development of project management best practices. Coordinate project resource changes and support team development. Report on project progress, KPIs, and support customer satisfaction initiatives.

Qualifications:
HND/degree level within an Engineering, Project Management or Business/Operational Management field or/and be able to demonstrate experience and proven capability.

Essential skills:
Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies (e.g. MS Project, PRINCE2, Agile). Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Strong financial and analytical skills. Proactive approach with a desire to grow and take on increasing responsibility.

Desired skills:
Experience working on engineering or mission systems within military or defence-related programmes. Project Management certification (e.g. PMP, APM) is highly desirable.

Experience:
Experience in project management, ideally within aerospace, defence, or engineering sectors.
