We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to support management and delivery of Transmission Zero (https://www.transmissionzero.org/), an international research programme that aims to develop new tools for vector control for tackling malaria in sub-Saharan Africa.
As part of the management team, you will be responsible for ensuring successful delivery of the programme's milestones within the projected timeline and available budget. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate between the different research teams in the UK and Tanzania as well as external experts and consultants working for the project to deliver on key milestones set out by the Transmission Zero leadership. You will report to Transmission Zero's co-directors who are responsible for execution of the overall programme.
This is a challenging role requiring technical knowledge and thorough grasp of the technical aspects of the research and involves wide-ranging and high-level responsibilities. Therefore, whilst project management qualifications and experience are highly desirable, a Master's degree or equivalent in biological sciences or related disciplines is essential. You must be comfortable working at the leading edge of a new field, driving product-oriented deliverables for a genetic technology with a yet undefined developmental path to application.
What you would be doing

You will provide project management support to various functional units within the project, including regulatory affairs, stakeholder engagement and risk management.
You will ensure efficient and transparent tracking of milestone progress and establish a regular review process aligned with workstreams to identify potential delays and develop solutions for any bottlenecks.
You will take the lead in organizing and chairing meetings, including setting timelines for action items, and tracking their progress and contribute to the development of operating plans and work plans, assessing capacity, strategy, and timelines.
You will manage the Project budget effectively, ensuring that budget requirements align with implementation work plans.
What we are looking for

You should hold a postgraduate qualification in Biological Science, Public Health Policy (or similar), or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, extensive training and/or experience.
You should have knowledge and experience of delivering scientific projects or comparable technical projects within a project management framework using initiative and judgement.
You will be expected to have outstanding organisational, time and project management skills, including the ability to plan, implement and execute new initiatives with the demonstrated ability to think creatively to innovate.
You must have proven ability to deliver project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements, dealing effectively with conflicting priorities and meet tight deadlines.
