Be part of a team where passion meets purpose, as we work together where the challenge is greatest to change the lives and build the futures of children and young people.
At Ormiston Forge Academy, we are seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to lead our Pupil Support Unit--a key part of our behaviour and pastoral provision. You will be responsible for managing the daily operation of the PSU, supporting students to develop the skills they need to return successfully to mainstream lessons, and working closely with families, staff, and external agencies.
As PSU Manager, you will:
Lead and manage a team of support staff within the unit.
Coordinate and deliver targeted interventions, including behaviour management, social skills, confidence-building, and study skills.
Develop individual learning plans and student timetables.
Build strong relationships with students and their families to foster positive engagement with education.
Monitor student progress and liaise with pastoral and curriculum leaders to ensure coordinated support.
Oversee behaviour interventions, detentions, and reintegration processes for students returning to lessons.
Ensure the smooth running of the PSU, maintaining high standards of organisation, record keeping, and student care.
Who We're Looking For:
We are looking for a proactive, compassionate, and highly organised professional who:
Has strong leadership and team management skills.
Has experience working with young people in an educational, pastoral, or behavioural setting.
Is able to manage sensitive issues with discretion and empathy.
Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills with students, staff, and parents/carers.
Is committed to high standards of safeguarding, inclusion, and behaviour management.
Can demonstrate resilience, flexibility, and a solution-focused approach.
At Ormiston Forge Academy, education is about more than just academics--it's about creating a sense of belonging and fostering a strong, supportive community. We live by the values of Resilience, Aspiration, and Respect. These principles guide our efforts to nurture well-rounded students who are prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. We're more than just a school--we're a family.
