Blackwood Engineering is a market leader in the production and supply of metal castings and counterweights, supplying global names in the construction manufacturing sector such as JCB, Caterpillar and Nifty. We are a family owned business based across 3 sites in South Wales, and 1 site in Belgium, supplying products internationally.

Job Overview

This is an exciting new part-time role, 5 hours per day, 5 days per week, site based. Fixed term for 12 months. Ideal for career returner or newly qualified individual.

We are seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Purchasing Assistant to join our small team based in Oakdale, near Blackwood. You will ideally have some office administration /IT experience and/or recent business related qualifications. You will be detail focused and willing to learn.

The ideal candidate will play an important role in supporting the Procurement Lead with processing orders and assisting with data entry.

The key requirement is to provide administrative support to both the Purchasing and Quality teams, ensuring at all times that data is entered accurately onto our computer systems and maintained in the relevant format in a timely manner to allow for correct reporting and decision making. Attention to detail is key and the ability to concentrate when undertaking repetitive tasks.

Principal Duties

Checking and preparing data and entering data into company computer system. General administrative tasks Maintaining accurate records and working on efficiencies Maintain accurate records for audit and compliance purposes Any other duties as required.

Purchasing

- Set up casting-level products in our ERP system, ensuring all required data is complete and accurate to support reliable reporting and system integrity

- Raise, process and track project related requisitions and purchase orders in accordance with established internal procedures.

- Maintain and upgrade project budget sheets to ensure all incurred costs are accurately captured and reflected.

Quality

- Compile and record non-value added (NVA) data provided by quality and operations on a daily/weekly and monthly basis

- Collect and consolidate information related to monthly supplier compensation claims; prepare and issue claims to suppliers for review and approval

- Follow-up on outstanding claims to ensure timely resolution and payment, coordinating with the Quality team as needed to support claim closure.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English A-levels or BTEC qualifications in Business Administration or higher level qualifications desirable Must be familiar with Microsoft Packages, eg Excel/Word or other computer packages The ability to communicate professionally by email, in person, by telephone or online. Ability to drive necessary as you may have to visit other sites Previous experience in a procurement role is desirable but not essential A willingness to learn and a positive attitude is essential. Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise effectively with suppliers and internal teams. Punctual, able to work to deadlines
