Job Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Assistant to join our procurement team. The successful candidate will support the purchasing department by managing supplier relationships, processing purchase orders, and ensuring the timely procurement of goods and services. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in supply chain management within a dynamic organisation. The ideal applicant will possess strong organisational skills, and a keen eye for negotiation to optimise purchasing processes.

Duties



Assist in the preparation and processing of purchase orders using ERP systems. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods, maintaining effective communication throughout the procurement cycle. Support inventory management by tracking stock levels and replenishing supplies as needed. Build and maintain strong working relationships across all departments to support procurement activities. Analyse supplier performance and negotiate favourable terms to optimise costs and efficiency. Collaborate with logistics and supply chain teams to streamline procurement procedures and improve overall operational workflows. Maintain accurate records of purchase transactions, supplier details, and contractual agreements. Assist in evaluating new suppliers and sourcing alternative options to enhance supply chain resilience. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement process.

Qualifications



Understanding of supply chain management, logistics, and merchandising principles. Familiarity with procurement processes within a manufacturing or retail environment is advantageous. Genuine interest in developing a career in procurement and commitment to personal growth is highly valued. Organised with exceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks effectively. Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise confidently with suppliers and internal teams. Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel). Experience with Excel Pivot Tables, SharePoint, and MS Teams would be an advantage. Ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively within a team setting. Pay: 24,420.00-27,500.00 per year
