Quality Assurance Technician
Featherstone (Onsite)
DS Smith Featherstone is looking to recruit a QA Technician to work within the Quality team.
The successful applicant will be required to have a flexible and proactive approach to multitask and multi skilled working, be self-motivated with a can-do attitude & willing to learn, develop & evolve in the role.
In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and maintenance of Quality Data and Systems in accordance with the requirements of defined methods and procedures, and to carry out sampling and analytical testing of materials and environmental tests in accordance with the requirements of defined methods and procedures. To be an active member within the QA team to achieve the designated Quality goals and objectives, whilst maintaining compliance to company, third party and customer.
Role Responsibilities:

  • Health and Safety Above All Else Focused with adhering to all site standards and requirements
  • Accurately process Customer Complaints in line with CHS & site SOPs
  • Support & investigate product related customer complaints including improvement actions
  • Conduct PACE performance sampling, testing & reporting to meet site and business KPIs
  • Verify PACE performance testing data via trending and compliance to internal specifications, initiating investigation and corrective action when appropriate
  • Participate in the Weekly business PACE review call
  • Compile customer specifications in line with customer requirements & portals
  • Compile, generate the daily, weekly & monthly reports
  • Responsible for testing & reporting sales, design & customer samples
  • Provide technical, hygiene & quality support to the site
  • Help with supervising lab related contractors & visitors
  • Maintain functionality, upkeep and calibration of site testing equipment
  • Maintain & upkeep of the QC Lab & office housekeeping & hygiene standards
  • Provide support on trials & watch orders
  • Conduct routine audits & inspections to ensure compliance, identification of non-compliance with appropriate corrective and preventative action. Implementation of opportunities for improvement and best practice
What we are looking for:
  • Educated to HND level or relevant experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment with high quality standards and operating with documented quality systems
  • PC literate with experience with Microsoft Excel, Office & SAP
  • Scientific approach with attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good working knowledge of SAP or similar data management systems
  • Must be able to work on own initiative as well as part of the team
  • Willing and capable to learn new skills
  • Must be proactive to acquire the skills needed to resolve problems, initiate change and to drive continuous improvement to enhance the existing laboratory program.
