Qualified Dental Nurse/receptionist

Job Description

To provide high-quality clinical support to the dental team and ensure the smooth and efficient running of the dental practice. This dual role combines clinical nursing duties with front-of-house administrative and reception responsibilities, ensuring patients receive excellent care and service from their first contact through to treatment completion.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical (Dental Nursing) Duties:

Prepare and maintain the dental surgery for all clinical procedures, ensuring compliance with infection control and cross-contamination protocols. Assist the dentist during all clinical procedures. Provide chairside support, ensuring efficient use of instruments and materials. Prepare, mix, and handle dental materials as required. Maintain accurate patient records and charting under the dentist's direction. Sterilise and store all instruments and equipment following HTM 01-05 and practice protocols. Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies. Support in taking dental radiographs (if qualified and authorised). Provide support and reassurance to patients throughout their treatment.
Reception / Administrative Duties:

Welcome patients and provide a friendly, professional front-of-house service. Manage appointment bookings efficiently using the practice management software. Handle incoming calls, emails, and patient enquiries. Process payments and maintain accurate financial records. Ensure patient confidentiality in line with GDPR and practice policy. Manage patient recalls, reminders, and follow-up communication. Assist with treatment plans, finance applications and documentation. Liaise with external laboratories, suppliers, and referral services when needed.
Skills and Qualities:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Professional, friendly, and compassionate manner. Strong organisational and multitasking ability. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high clinical standards. Proficiency in dental software systems (e.g. SOE, R4, Dentally, etc.) desirable. Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure.
Qualifications and Requirements:

Essential: GDC-registered Dental Nurse qualification (NEBDN or equivalent). Up-to-date knowledge of cross-infection control, HTM 01-05, and GDPR. Basic Life Support (BLS) training.

Desirable: Experience in dental reception or administrative roles. Dental radiography and digital scanning.

Pay: 14.50-16.00 per hour
