Role Overview - Quality Assurance Assistant


We are looking for a Quality Assurance Assistant to support the Quality Assurance team in maintaining high standards of product safety, legality, and quality. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to start or grow their career in food quality assurance. You will be involved in routine checks, documentation, and assisting in quality audits to help ensure our products meet internal, customer, and regulatory standards.

Location


This is a factory-based role in Wetherby, West Yorkshire. You must live within an easy commute of the factory. There is no off-site or work-from-home option for this role.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Compliance



Carry out regular quality checks on production lines and complete relevant documentation accurately. Assist in maintaining compliance with internal standards and industry requirements, including SALSA and HACCP. Support the investigation of product or process non-conformances. Help maintain retained samples and record results from composition and quality checks. Assist with updating and filing product specifications and quality records.

Customer & Supplier Support



Assist in checking raw materials and packaging upon delivery and reporting any issues. Support the QA team in logging and investigating customer complaints. Help maintain supplier documentation and specifications.

Auditing & Certification



Assist with internal audits and preparation for external audits such as SALSA. Support traceability exercises and help ensure labelling and weight checks are recorded properly.

Training & Continuous Improvement



Learn about and support the implementation of quality systems and food safety procedures. Attend and contribute to team meetings on quality improvements and operational standards. Participate in relevant training and development to build knowledge in HACCP, food safety, and quality control.
Skills & Qualifications

Education & Experience



Some experience or academic background in food science, food technology, or a related field is desirable but not essential. A strong interest in food safety and quality assurance within manufacturing.

Technical Skills & Knowledge



Basic understanding of food hygiene and quality standards. Familiarity with Microsoft Office for basic data entry and documentation.

Personal Attributes



A keen eye for detail and good organisational skills. Willingness to learn and develop within the role. Good communication and teamwork skills. Able to work reliably and follow procedures in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Certifications (Training can be provided)



Level 2 Food Hygiene Level 2 Health & Safety Introduction to HACCP or HACCP for Manufacturing
