We work closely with local authorities, housing associations, and private clients to deliver high-quality installations, including insulation, heating, and renewable technologies.
We're now seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in
social housing and energy-efficiency projects
to support our growing delivery team.
Purpose of the Role
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing the financial and contractual aspects of retrofit and ECO projects. This includes cost estimating, tendering, valuations, variations, and final accounts. The role ensures that all projects are delivered on budget, in line with quality and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare cost estimates, tenders, and budgets for ECO and retrofit projects.
Manage project costs from initial quote through to final account.
Work closely with clients, housing associations, and local authorities to ensure transparent pricing and reporting.
Assess, value, and process subcontractor applications and variations.
Conduct site visits and valuations as required.
Support commercial negotiations and resolve any contractual issues.
Provide regular cost reports and financial updates to management.
Ensure compliance with funding rules (ECO4, SHDF, GBIS) and company policies.
Liaise with delivery teams to ensure accurate job costing and performance tracking.
Identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and best practices.
Skills and Experience Required
Essential:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the
social housing
,
retrofit
, or
construction
sectors.
Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract (e.g., JCT, NEC).
Experience managing costs for insulation, heating, or renewable installations.
Excellent numerical, analytical, and reporting skills.
Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
Proficient in Excel and project management software.
Attention to detail with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
Desirable:
Experience working within ECO-funded projects or other government retrofit schemes.
Understanding of PAS 2035 / PAS 2030 requirements.
Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
Membership of RICS or working towards it.
Full UK driving licence.
