At Galliford Try, we are looking for passionate individuals to join our Commercial team. Our Digital Infrastructure team has some exciting projects coming up in the Hampshire area.
As part of our growing team, you will have the opportunity to work on large Defence and MoD projects. We are seeking Quantity Surveyors with previous experience in civil engineering who either hold, or are willing to obtain, DV or SC security clearance.
About Digital Infrastructure:
Galliford Try's Digital Infrastructure business unit works predominantly within the UK's Critical National Infrastructure market, focusing on the Telecoms, Defence, Energy and Transport sectors.
We deliver large ? to medium ? scale multi ? site programmes. Our expertise in planning, design and delivery, combined with our specialist construction knowledge, enables us to efficiently deliver fully integrated programmes and portfolios of work on critical operational assets.
We have developed the capability to operate within security ? sensitive locations. Much of our work is not advertised across wider business communications, making what we offer a unique service to our clients and the sectors in which we operate.

Requirements for Quantity Surveyors:
Commercial Responsibilities:
Maximise margin recovery through client and subcontractor accounts
Develop and collate quotations for work packages
Create and maintain team profit motivation, with regard to client and subcontractor relationships
Optimise cash flow through external valuations and control of subcontractor accounts
Monitor reserves, work in progress, and subcontractor payments
Assist the Finance Department with recovery of outstanding monies
Monitor progress of both main and subcontractor final accounts
Facilitate recovery of retention and similar payments
Ensure correct contractual procedures are followed for both main contracts and subcontracts
Ensure site teams comply with contractual obligations
Ensure subcontract conditions are back ? to ? back with main contract conditions, or include maximum risk transfer
Identify financial risks associated with contractual non ? compliance and report accordingly
Identify any special additional terms and conditions required within subcontract agreements
Provide pre ? contract advice to the Estimating Department regarding amended main contract terms and resource availability
Prepare and manage claims and recovery
Ensure all contemporaneous records and documentation are maintained to maximise recovery
Financial Reporting:
Produce monthly Cost Value Reports and Margin Analysis in conjunction with line management
Identify over ? or under ? valuations, maintenance reserves, speculative reserves and management adjustments
Identify and evaluate risks, including non ? recoverable prolongation costs and potential LAD liabilities
Forecast out ? turn margin, commercial performance, programme and progress on a monthly basis
Forecast contract turnover and adjust as required
Conduct weekly contract WIP and debtor reviews, with monthly consolidated management reports
Required Attributes:
Experience within the construction and/or telecommunications industries, with knowledge of relevant standards
Willingness to obtain DV security clearance (mandatory for the role)
Previous experience on large ? scale Defence/MoD projects (desirable but not essential)
Proactive approach to work
Strong understanding of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts and mechanisms
