Quantity Surveyor

to join our team during this exciting period of strategic growth.

With over 180 years' experience in providing services to residential and commercial clients within its building, scaffolding and unique heritage restoration services, the Laidlaw name is renowned for quality.

As part of the new Cubby Group, we are now looking to grow our capabilities further whilst continuing to focus on quality, safety, reputation and service.

To help us to deliver our growth plan and enable efficient delivery of our robust order book we are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial department based at our Jedburgh offices.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual, and there is potential for the successful applicant to progress into the commercial lead for the company as it looks to progress with the support and backing of Cubby Group.

Knowledge of the construction industry in general is preferred.

Full support will be given from the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Group Commercial Director for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities :



Take commercial responsibility for several small projects initially from 10k - 100k Taking commercial responsibility of smaller projects including any negotiations up to and including final account agreements Compilation of estimates for new schemes working closely with the Operations Manager Preparation of applications for payment Be responsible for the collection of cash and retention monies due Collation and pricing of variations as and when required Understanding of drawings and take offs Produce cash flow forecasts / reports as and when required Obtaining certifications and payments timeous to the agreements within the Contract and raising of invoices as necessary Basic knowledge and awareness of Contracts Liaise with Operational staff as necessary with regard to commercial support throughout the duration of projects To assist and work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor Supporting the Senior Quantity Surveyor on larger schemes The ideal candidate must be a good team player, highly motivated and enjoy working in a fast paced working environment The successful candidate has the opportunity to progress to Commercial Lead over a relatively short period of time with the right level of support from the Group Commercial Director.

Experience:



Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent Surveying: 2 years (Preferred) Driving Licence required
