Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced

Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager

to manage all commercial and financial aspects of our stone projects from tender through to final account. The successful candidate will have a strong background in construction quantity surveying--preferably within stone, facade, or specialist subcontracting sectors--and will ensure projects are delivered on budget, on time, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, manage, and monitor project budgets, valuations, and cost reports. Prepare and submit tenders, quotations, and bills of quantities. Assess and manage subcontractor and supplier accounts, including procurement and payment. Monitor project progress, variations, and change orders, ensuring timely valuations and claims. Liaise with clients, main contractors, and project managers on all commercial matters. Conduct site visits to assess progress, measure works and verify valuations. Manage risk, identify opportunities for cost savings, and maintain accurate records. Prepare and agree final accounts and project close-out documentation. Support project teams with cost advice, cash flow forecasting, and reporting.

Requirements

Essential:

Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management. Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a QS role within construction or specialist subcontracting (preferably Natural stone). Strong understanding of JCT contracts and subcontract agreements. Proficient in cost management software and MS Office (Excel, Word). Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

Desirable:

Experience with Natural Stone works. Knowledge of CAD drawings and construction detailing advantageous.
