As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced
Quantity Surveyor
to join our Highways division and contribute to the commercial success of our ongoing and upcoming projects.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for the
commercial management and financial control
of highway schemes, ensuring that all works are delivered within agreed budgets and timescales while maintaining compliance with contractual and company requirements.
This role requires a proactive individual with excellent analytical, contractual, and communication skills who can manage multiple stakeholders and deliver consistent, high-quality commercial support to project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and monitor project budgets, valuations, and forecasts in accordance with company and client requirements.
Administer contracts (primarily under
NEC
forms) and ensure compliance with relevant conditions.
Prepare, review, and negotiate subcontract and supplier packages, including procurement and tender evaluations.
Undertake cost analysis, value engineering, and risk assessments for project delivery.
Prepare monthly commercial reports, valuations, and final accounts.
Support project managers and site teams with cost control, cash flow forecasting, and contract variations.
Ensure all commercial activities are carried out in accordance with statutory and company governance.
Qualifications and Experience
Degree (or equivalent) in
Quantity Surveying
,
Commercial Management
, or a related discipline.
Minimum
3-5 years' experience
in a Quantity Surveying role within the
highways or civil engineering
sector.
Strong working knowledge of
NEC
contracts and standard commercial practices.
Proven ability to manage project finances from procurement through to final account.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in cost management software and Microsoft Office applications.
MRICS
or working toward professional membership (desirable).
