Receptionist, Bookkeeper & Payroll Assistant

to join our team.

Role Overview



This varied role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing client-facing duties with financial administration. You will be the first point of contact for clients while also supporting the practice with bookkeeping and payroll processing.

Key Responsibilities



Reception duties:



Welcoming clients and managing front?of?house enquiries Handling incoming calls, emails, and appointment bookings Maintaining a tidy and professional reception area Providing general administrative support

Bookkeeping duties:



Processing invoices, receipts, and payments Maintaining accurate client bookkeeping records Using accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Freeagent) Completing data entry and bank reconciliations Assisting with basic financial reports and year?end preparation

Payroll processing:



Collecting and verifying payroll information from clients Processing weekly or monthly payrolls using payroll software Ensuring accurate calculations of pay, tax, National Insurance, pensions and other deductions Producing payslips and statutory reports Submitting RTI reports and maintaining payroll records Assisting clients with payroll queries

Skills & Experience



Essential:



Previous experience in reception, admin, bookkeeping & payroll Strong attention to detail and good numerical skills Excellent communication and customer service Confident with IT and Microsoft Office Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively

Desirable:



Experience with cloud accounting software (e.g QuickBooks, Xero, Freeagent) Exposure to payroll software (e.g BrightPay) Knowledge of bookkeeping or payroll principles AAT or payroll qualification (or working towards one) Experience within an accountancy practice
