As a Reflect Intervention Officer you will make a huge difference to the lives of individuals here in Gwynedd by assisting them to live their lives in the way they wish to live.


You will support individuals through social and personal difficulties, at the same time as promoting their human rights and well-being. You will work with individuals, supporting their relationships and families, groups and their links with the community. You will assist them to identify their strengths, develop their skills and work on issues or challenges they may be facing.


The successful candidate will be expected to maintain their registration with Social Care Wales and be able to demonstrate skills in accordance with the and the Person Specification (attached). ? ?

Purpose of the post

Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do. The Reflect Worker will be responsible for implementing a range of interventions and as part of an integrated package including health, therapeutic and social support. The Reflect Worker in particular will need to address the complex needs of women/mothers (and fathers), through intensive support, to enable change in their lives and, ultimately, to reduce the number of children being placed in care. Ensuring that the people of Gwynedd are central to everything we do. To work with children and their families in accordance with the Children Act 1989, Wales Safeguarding Procedures, Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 and the Children in Need and their families Assessment Framework

Main duties

Level 1 - Reflect Intervention Officer (General Duties)

Practice within the relevant legislative frameworks and guidance that underpin the provision of social services in Wales Apply the Code of Professional Practice as a registered professional Consolidate and develop the skills and knowledge gained through formal qualification through mentoring and guidance of experienced practitioners. Attend relevant first 3 years in practice workshops and complete the Consolidation Programme. Work with mentor to develop practice. Actively participate in regular reflective supervision and consult with your line manager and other experienced colleagues. Continue to develop your practice through ongoing reflection. Manage and be accountable for your own work Work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary and multi organisational teams, networks, and systems with guidance from your line manager and other more experienced colleagues. Exercise professional judgement and decision making increasing in complexity within the first 3 years of practice through mentoring and supervision from your line manager or guidance from more experienced colleagues. Manage ethical issues, dilemmas, and conflicts, with guidance and support increasing in complexity during the 3 years. Support colleagues with their development through mentoring. Develop social work practice through supervision and reflection. Support colleagues at different stages in their career with continuous reflection through an individual or group reflection exercise activity. Manage and be accountable for your own work. Work jointly within teams, networks and multidisciplinary and multi-organisational systems. Advise colleagues on complex work fields through the mentoring role. Exercise professional judgment and decision-making in complex situations. Support colleagues at different stages in their career to develop confidence surrounding professional judgement through the mentoring role. Manage ethical issues, dilemmas and conflict in complex situations. Support social workers at different stages of their careers to manage more complex matters through the mentoring role. Prepare and submit professional reports and records, ensuring that the information is correct, consistent and is shared securely and appropriately. Support social workers at different stages of their careers to develop their skills in writing reports and keeping records, through the mentoring role. Support people to participate in decision-making processes. Advocate with and on behalf of individuals, families, supporters, groups and communities. Work together with people who require care and support and other professionals in complex situations, and support colleagues with advice and guidance at different stages in their careers. Undertake strength-based assessments and practice in a way that promotes self-determination and independence and empower and support colleagues with advice and guidance at different stages of their careers. Support social workers at different stages in their career in this field of work through the mentoring role. Conduct an outcome-focused assessment using the 'What Matters' conversation to identify what is important to the individual, eligible needs and develop outcome-focused plans that facilitate care and support. Prepare, produce, implement and evaluate plans with individuals, families, carers, groups, communities and professional colleagues. Support social workers at different stages in their career in this field of work through the mentoring role. Identify, assess and investigate any Adult or Child who is at risk in accordance with relevant legislation and the Wales Safeguarding Procedures. Support social workers at different stages in their careers to develop their skills and make decisions relating to working in the safeguarding field within the mentoring role. Be a role model and share good practice, advice and support to enable team colleagues and less experienced social workers to develop their careers. This will include mentoring, working together on cases and supporting the service's quality assurance by inspecting and sampling files and practice and advising social work colleagues on specialist work fields, within the mentoring role.

Local Duties

Provide timely intensive intervention to the service user which is flexible to their needs. Have skilled and mindful discussions that focus on solving the service users' dilemmas, working to establishing sustainable outcomes, and optimising their autonomy, independence and strengths. Release motivational potential in service users which is often very ambivalent. Focus on outcomes, outcome-based approaches. Help the service users to challenge mindsets and behaviour. Contribute in multi-disciplinary forums similar to Marac, health panels and all-Wales forums. Provide training, advice and support to the wider workforce. Acquire knowledge about contemporary methods of effective intervention and robust evaluation.

Additional Duties

Responsibility for self-development.
