Job Description

We are looking for a vibrant and motivated manager for a solo children's home in Hebden, Skipton. Canary House is an established and specialised home for children looked after for the past 10 years. The home is located in a serene setting with experienced staff members, and the manager will be fully supported by an Area Manager. The service will support children with autism, learning difficulties and complex diagnoses and needs

You must share a total commitment to providing a safe and inclusive environment at all times and be resilient to providing support for those who need it the most.

You need to be hopeful and determined for children and will need to have experience of successfully leading a team in a regulated environment, a positive attitude, leadership capabilities an a willingness to support and teach other. The ability and skills to develop a good quality compliant service is essential whilst supporting a team of support workers. You will also be expected to provide support and cover an out of hours duty rota.

Some of your duties will include:-

Fulfilling all requirements of an ofsted registered service completing the registration application process within the first two weeks of employment Providing leadership to the team, acting as a positive role model at all times Securing referrals and complete booking procedures for the children attending the service Managing rotas on a daily/weekly/monthly basis to ensure that the service is resourced appropriately Providing effective management, ongoing development and supervision to support workers Promoting great team working within the service Motivating, supporting and mentoring the team, including debriefing following challenging situations Taking an active role as a member of the Canary House Care senior management team in providing your experience and support across the Canary House Care Services
We require our team members to share and engage with canary House Care's vision and opportunities in order to enable our young people to have enhanced life experiences. We require interested candidates to possess the following competencies, knowledge and skills

At least 1 year's previous experience leading a team working with young people with additional needs, preferably in an Ofsted regulated environment. To have experience of being the Designated Safeguarding Lead in a similar environment or at least have knowledge of Safeguarding, legislation, policy and procedures. Thorough knowledge of the Ofsted Framework and Children's Home Regulations 2015 The QCF Level 3 - Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential and preferably you will hold QCF Level 5 (or equivalent) if not you must demonstrate a willingness to work towards this An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required for this role.

Full-time hours: 44 per week plus out of hours on-call responsibility
