As an RVN at Conway Road Veterinary Surgery, you will join a small and supportive clinical team consisting of
3 vets, 2 nurses, a receptionist, and an animal care assistant
. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care within our newly refurbished practice, which includes
two theatres, a dedicated dental suite with dental radiography, endoscopy, digital x-ray, ultrasound, and a patient lift
. The role is hands-on, varied, and ideal for a nurse who enjoys involvement in all aspects of clinical work, including anaesthesia, inpatient care, dentistry, and surgical support.

Key Responsibilities & Duties Clinical Nursing
Perform
anaesthetic monitoring
for a wide range of procedures, including routine surgeries and orthopaedic cases.
Provide
high-quality inpatient care
, including administering medication, maintaining records, and monitoring hospitalised patients.
Carry out
nursing consults
such as post-op checks, nail clips, weight clinics, parasite treatment, and preventative healthcare.
Assist with
dentistry
, including dental radiography, charting, scale & polish, and supporting the vet during dental procedures.

Surgical & Diagnostic Support
Prepare theatres, surgical equipment, and patients for procedures.
Assist with imaging diagnostics using
digital x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, and endoscopy
.
Ensure surgical sterility, manage instrument care, and oversee autoclave operations.
Support orthopaedic surgical workflow, preparing kits and assisting with surgical nursing tasks.

Practice Operations
Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of clinical areas including theatres, kennels, prep rooms, and the dental suite.
Participate in stock control, ordering, and rotation of consumables and medications.
Support reception and client communication when required, providing nurse-level advice and reassurance.
Follow all health and safety protocols, including radiation, anaesthetic, and infection-control procedures.

Teamwork & Client Care
Work collaboratively with vets, nursing colleagues, the receptionist, and the animal care assistant.
Deliver excellent
client communication
, ensuring pet owners understand treatment plans, post-operative care, and preventative strategies.
Contribute positively to practice culture and team morale in a small-team environment.

Role Requirements Essential
Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with the RCVS.
Good competency with
anaesthesia, inpatient care, and general nursing duties
.
Confidence working in a
small, busy first-opinion practice
.
Ability to use or willingness to learn
dental radiography, endoscopy, and advanced imaging equipment
.
Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centred approach.
Comfortable supporting a varied caseload, including orthopaedic procedures.

Desirable
Previous experience in a practice offering
orthopaedics
or advanced diagnostics.
Interest in dentistry, imaging, or surgical nursing.
Experience assisting in a newly refurbished or multi-theatre clinical environment.
Willingness to support student nurses or ACA training.
