We are looking for:
An enthusiastic qualified registered nurse with the desire to improve services, take part in the team decision making and with a wish for continuous professional development (funded). Don't worry if you are newly qualified- we are more than happy to teach you new skills (and look forward to learning from you)!
Ideally, this is a permanent position, but we would also consider a shorter contract.
Duties will include:
Admission of routine operations
Post op checks of routine ops
Pre-vaccination consults
2nd vaccinations
Monitoring anaesthesia
Obtaining radiographs (digital) including dental x-rays
Administering medication (orally, s.c., i.m., i.v. injections)
Placing iv fluids & collecting blood samples
Lab work (bloods, urine, smears, scrapings)
Nursing of in-patients
Taking part in the OOH rota
Minor procedures under schedule 3 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act
Dentals: Scale & polish, charting
Administering laser treatments
Ordering of clinical supplies
Comprehensive nurse clinics
Cleaning and maintaining instrumentation (including electrosurgery, suction, ultrasound)
Cleaning of work areas
Producing client invoices and maintaining in-patient records
Advising clients on husbandry issues in person or on the phone
Supporting our receptionists when required
We are offering a relaxed work environment with a great team of 7 nurses, 1 student nurse, 3 receptionists and 3 vets.
We have a maximum of 36h working week which is worked over 4 days (set day off each week) with a current 1 in 8 weekends, our working hours are 8:15-6.30pm Mondays and Fridays 8:15-5:30pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 8.15-2pm on Saturdays. We provide our own out of hours service and the on call is shared between the whole nursing team and is marked out on our 6 monthly rota.
Our practice is bright and airy, with separate cat and dog wards. We have a large staff and meeting room and the nurses consult room overlooks the harbour. As part of our staff benefits you will receive post completion of your probationary period we offer extensive staff discount on veterinary treatments, food and medications and Benenden Health membership. You will also receive a 1000 CPD allowance per year as well as 3 CPD days. Salary will depend on experience and hours, which can be discussed at interview.
