We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Nurse to join our compassionate and growing veterinary team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our animal patients, supporting veterinarians, and ensuring the wellbeing of all animals in our practice. We are a new and developing first opinion veterinary practice based in Rossendale, we have modern diagnostic equipment such as; ultrasound, digital x-ray, dental x-rays and in house lab which includes biochemistry, haematology and urinalysis.
We have a 3 consult rooms one of which is dedicated for euthanasias, so clients can spend time with their beloved pets while saying goodbye, large waiting room, prep room, theatre, dental room, 2 patient ward rooms (separate for dogs and cats), staff kitchen, a meeting room and lounge area
The role;
40 hours a week on a rotating basis, this can be spread over 4 or 5 working days

Responsibilities
Assisting veterinarians during consultations, surgeries, and procedures with preparation and post-operative care
Forming client relationships to encourage trust and honesty
Administering medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian
Monitoring anaesthesia and recovery processes for surgical patients
Providing nursing care including wound management, diagnostics, and patient observations
Maintaining accurate records of treatments, procedures, and patient histories
Supporting laboratory work such as sample collection, analysis, and processing
Ensuring cleanliness and organisation of the clinical environment to uphold hygiene standards
Communicating effectively with pet owners regarding treatment plans and aftercare instructions
Skills
Prior veterinary experience is essential for this role; familiarity with clinical procedures will be highly valued
Laboratory experience is desirable to assist with diagnostic testing and sample analysis, training is provided
Organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and patient care
Compassionate approach towards animals and their owners, demonstrating empathy and professionalism
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a friendly team
Good communication skills to liaise effectively with colleagues and clients
