Vacancy Description:

The candidates will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the Gardens at various locations throughout the Trust including the Sensory Garden and allotment area. These facilities are to be used for activity sessions for the people we support, these support sessions and workshops will provide vocational activities for the people we support which will be both fun and educational.
To perform a variety of maintenance duties with skill. Responsible for completing routine maintenance, undertaking repairs and tackling a range of other practical tasks.
The role will also include the responsibility to manage the vehicle fleet, ensuring the vehicles are kept clean and free from damage and deal with any maintenance issues, in accordance with any lease hire agreements if applicable.
Working Hours/Days:
Full time, 37.5 hours flexible to fit the needs of the role over a 7-day period.
Annual Salary:
29'250 initially 30'859 upon successful completion of Probation
Main Roles and Responsibilities:

Challenge poor practice, raise concerns and understand the safeguarding referral process and the company's whistleblowing policy.
Promote Human rights, respect a person's right of privacy and maintain confidentiality.
Ensure that the gardens throughout the Trust locations are kept neat and tidy throughout the year.
Maintenance and development of the New sensory Garden and allotment area.
Management of the maintenance and general upkeep of the vehicle fleet.
Overseeing repairs or maintenance by external contractors as reported by staff and tenants according to priority and ensuring the work has been completed to a satisfactory standard.
Maintenace Tasks:
Preventative maintenance
Basic repairs
Cosmetic upkeep
Simple appliance installations
Ability to handle power tools safely and some maintenance related machinery (ensuring all safety precautions are taken and the correct safety gear is purchased and worn)
Minor carpentry and plumbing repairs - fitting furniture and doors, changing bathroom fixtures.
Flushing / unblocking drains / pipes three times a week at the Hub & IST grounds and as appropriate at all other services
Painting and decorating of common / shared areas
Monitor and respond timely to the on-line maintenance monitoring system (which in turn gives the people we support satisfaction)
Plumbing: To resolve basic problems, but to advise when a plumber is required for any jobs beyond your skillset.
Electrical: replacing bulbs, doorbells, must advise if a tradesman is required for any electrical jobs.
Decorating: painting walls and ceilings, touching up skirting boards and door frames, sanding floors and other wooden surfaces, plus any other relevant and reasonable decorating request.
Repairs and Maintenance: installing cabinets, doors, countertops and flooring including tiles, carpets or other hardwood and laminate aspects including damaged window frame.
To work flexibly and ensure that work is appropriately prioritized while maintaining a balance of the current daily and weekly set tasks.
Environmental/Garden Tasks:
Responsible for ground keeping and waste removal. mowing lawns, trimming hedges, bushes and trees, weeding, watering flower beds and repairing border walls and fences at all appropriate services. And ensuring the sensory garden is maintained and utilized as a focal point for the Trust.
Vehicles:
To ensure that the vehicles at the Hub are regularly washed/cleaned/valeted to ensure when the vehicles are used, they promote a positive image of the Trust.
Emergency Callouts:
On the infrequent occasion, the role comes with the responsibility to respond to emergency callouts on evenings and weekends quickly assessing the severity and cause of the damage and fixing/repairing where able or arranging a tradesman if unable to repair.
Callouts - this will be managed closely by the line manager to ensure that any callouts are emergencies only and to determine if the callout is necessary in the first place.
Other Expectations:
To work safely and ensure that any health and safety guidance is followed closely, all safety precautions are followed, and safety gear worn. Advice should be sought from the health & safety manager GM where appropriate.
To work flexibly and ensure that work is appropriately prioritized while maintaining a balance of the current daily and weekly set tasks.
