A wonderful opportunity has arisen to add to our existing team supporting young people to live semi-independently in York through our supported accommodation offer/Staying Close
These roles will be expected to work across our residential and supported accommodation provision, although will predominantly support unaccompanied asylum-seeking children in York.
The role involves helping young people to develop a sense of belonging, developing local networks of support and providing support and guidance in developing lifelong independent living skills.
This is a remote/lone worker/team role, base at home/community/West Office
Experience of working with children is desirable not essential so if you feel you can deliver:
A commitment to the delivery of high quality, child centred care. Effective communication skills including the ability to communicate sensitive information and recognise and respond to non-verbal as well as verbal communication
Ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with children and young people and their families.
Be solution focused
Able to use office-based IT and data systems
Effective time management skills
Commitment to challenge unacceptable, discriminatory practice constructively.
Able to work out of school hours - for example occasional weekends, evenings, including school holidays.
This role is suitable as a job sharing opportunity.
As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express themselves spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
