Cornerstone Children's Homes is seeking dedicated

Waking Night Support Workers

to join our solo residential provision in Reading. This essential role supports a child or young person with complex emotional and behavioural needs, delivering one-to-one, therapeutic care throughout the night.

This is more than overnight monitoring--it's a chance to provide trauma-informed, relationship-based care exactly when it matters most.

Your Role

As a Waking Night Support Worker, you'll deliver consistent, compassionate care during the night, helping a young person feel safe, seen, and supported as they rest and recover. Working closely with the daytime team, you'll ensure continuity of care and emotional stability around the clock.

Key Responsibilities:



Provide calm, trauma-informed care within a one-to-one residential setting Offer emotional reassurance and foster a secure environment overnight Follow personalised bedtime routines and care plans Monitor wellbeing and respond sensitively to any incidents Maintain accurate records and provide thorough handovers Collaborate closely with daytime staff for seamless care continuity Serve as a trusted, therapeutic adult presence throughout the night

You are emotionally resilient, patient, and grounded--able to offer calm and comfort during the stillness of the night. You maintain professional boundaries while showing warmth and understanding, committed to supporting young people with complex needs.

Preferred qualities and qualifications include:

Experience supporting children or young people with emotional or behavioural challenges A calm, compassionate approach with confident incident management Strong written and verbal communication skills Commitment to trauma-informed, child-centred practice Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards it
