This role is required to support the success and continual improvement of BRE\xe2\x80\x99s ways of working. Through the support, advice and guidance given to the business, this role will:

Assist the business with risk identification, risk mitigation and the development of safe systems of work across the operations at BRE\xe2\x80\x99s Science Park

Assist with near miss identification, incident investigation, follow up and lessons learnt

Assist the SHE Manager with ensuring that SHE processes and guidance reflect changes in legislation

Deliver assurance activity to understand any gaps or weaknesses in approach and to support continual improvement

Helping to identify SHE competence requirements and associated training needs and supporting with this delivery

This role will also:

Support with the planning and organising of assurance activities across the different areas of risk and statutory compliance

Support with the arrangement, preparation and facilitation of external audits relating to SHE risk management and BRE\xe2\x80\x99s ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certifications, and the associated audit actions and follow-ups

Support with the implementation of the BRE SHE Plan and associated objectives

Support with the central recording and managing of near miss, accident and incident data and related inviestigations.

Support with the implementation of the SHE Communications Plan across BRE

What experience and skills does the role need?

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

This role will require an individual with good working knowledge of health, safety and environmental risk management practices with sound experience of undertaking risk assessments, designing and implementing safe systems or work and knowledge of competence frameworks \xe2\x80\x93 preferably within a higher risk environment.

NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent is desirable but not essential if other training routes and experience can demonstrate competence for this role.

Some experience in undertaking assurance activity (such as formal inspection or audit) is desirable

Working knowledge of the IS045001 and ISO14001 standards

Some working knowledge of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations would be beneficial

Skills and competencies

Good communication and people skills, being able to encourage conversation and collaboration across the business

Organised to support with the BRE\xe2\x80\x99s SHE Plan and ambitions

Good IT skills to be able to support the ongoing development of the SHE Framework and associated digital tools.

A team player, flexible work ethic, and enthusiastic in wanting to make a difference
