Lindum Turf is a family farming and turf business based in a rural location at Thorganby, between Selby and York
As a result of a re-organisation of our accounts department, we require a Sales Ledger Clerk to work 2 days, up to 16 hours a week, in an interesting and progressive business with 6 office-based sales and accountancy staff
The Sales Ledger Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date customer account records, processing sales invoices, reconciling accounts, and supporting the Finance Manager in managing the company's income stream. This role ensures the timely collection of outstanding debts and contributes to the smooth operation of the organisation's financial processes.
Due to location, car ownership and full UK drivers' licence are essential
Responsibilities
Process and post all sales invoices, credit notes, and receipts accurately and promptly.
Maintain and reconcile the sales ledger, ensuring all customer accounts are up to date.
Monitor and chase outstanding customer payments in line with credit control procedures.
Resolve customer queries and discrepancies in a professional and timely manner.
Reconcile customer statements and issue monthly statements as required.
Assist in month-end and year-end reporting, including ledger reconciliations and analysis.
Work closely with internal departments (e.g., Sales, Customer Service) to ensure billing accuracy.
Maintain accurate records and filing systems in compliance with company policies.
Assist with ad hoc financial tasks and projects as required by management.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential:
Previous experience in a similar sales ledger, accounts receivable, or finance role.
Strong numeracy and attention to detail.
Good working knowledge of accounting software, Sage, Word and MS Excel.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Desirable:
AAT qualification (or working towards).
Understanding of VAT and basic accounting principles.
