We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the procurement process, ensuring that our supply chain operates smoothly and efficiently. This position requires strong organisational skills and a keen understanding of various ERP systems, including SAP and JD Edwards, to facilitate effective purchasing operations.

Duties

Assist in the procurement of goods and services, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with company standards. Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory levels within ERP systems such as SAP ERP, Oracle EBS, and AS400. Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate terms and conditions, ensuring the best value for the company. Coordinate logistics for incoming shipments, liaising with transport providers to ensure efficient delivery schedules. Support the supply chain team in monitoring stock levels and identifying potential shortages or overstock situations. Participate in merchandising activities by analysing market trends and supplier performance to inform purchasing decisions. Prepare reports on purchasing activities and supplier performance for management review.

Requirements

Proven experience in a purchasing or procurement role is preferred. Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, or AS400 is essential. Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships with suppliers. Knowledge of logistics processes within the supply chain is advantageous. Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis.
