Overview



We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially astute Industrial Services Estimator to support our growing operations across Scaffolding, Thermal Insulation, and Industrial Painting disciplines. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost plans, bids, and tenders using first principles estimating, underpinned by industry standards such as EC Harris and DACE norms.

This role is ideal for an estimator with a solid grounding in multi-discipline industrial services and a desire to work on large-scale shutdowns, maintenance, and capital works projects across a variety of sectors.

Key Responsibilities



Prepare detailed and structured first-principles estimates covering labour, plant, materials, and access requirements. Attend site visits and client meetings to understand project scope and constraints. Interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications to inform estimates. Liaise closely with the operations team to align on production rates, access solutions, and delivery methodology. Develop supporting programmes and work breakdown structures to complement cost submissions. Present and justify cost plans to senior leadership during adjudication processes. Participate in mid- and post-tender interviews with clients, offering technical and commercial clarity. Maintain awareness of current market rates, resource availability, and client expectations. Ensure estimates are prepared in accordance with relevant norms and industry best practices (including EC Harris and DACE where applicable).

Essential Skills & Experience



Proven experience in an estimator role within the industrial services sector, ideally covering scaffolding, insulation, and coatings/painting. Strong understanding of scaffolding systems, access design, and compliance. Familiarity with thermal insulation materials, application methods, and specification interpretation. Understanding of industrial painting and surface preparation techniques. Proficiency in first-principles estimating and cost build-ups. Competent in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and project documentation. Working knowledge of EC Harris norms, DACE standards, or equivalent recognised estimating frameworks. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with clients and internal stakeholders. High attention to detail, commercial awareness, and strategic thinking. Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with estimating software packages is desirable.
