Lyng Hall School

are looking for an inspirational sports apprentice that has a passion for inspiring children to fall in love with sport and to enjoy being active.




This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced staff to learn the interpersonal and management skills needed to work with young people and adults whilst also being given the opportunity to share your own expertise and think creatively about how to help the school move forward with PE.

Day-to-day duties may involve:



Work alongside teachers and coaches to deliver engaging and motivating

PE lessons, supervising and supporting the activities of individuals or groups


of children/young people to ensure their safety and facilitate


their physical and emotional development.
Organise and run extra-curricular sports clubs Manage and train school team(s) Attend team events 'out of hours' (time given in lieu) Responsible for monitoring equipment stock and for tidying store cupboards Wash and dry kit Monitor individual pupil progress, achievements, problems, condition and development needs reporting to the responsible teacher as appropriate. Working with more able pupils to help them attain the highest level they can. Assist the teacher in the development, delivery and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care Programmes for individuals or groups of children as well as preparing and delivering programmes to support Special Needs Assist the teacher with the planning of learning activities in the classroom and assist in equipment preparation for lessons in designated areas - preparing or modifying work for individuals or groups of pupils as directed. Support the PE Leader in organising the participation of students in school activities, school clubs and school tournaments/competitions (both internal and external) Become an active part of our team, prepared to go the extra mile for the benefit of our school community Follow school policies and behave professionally Maintain confidentiality inside and outside the workplace You must have a clear DBS and DBA check (the school will arrange this)

Able to communicate effectively in spoken or written form. Well organised. Able to use ICT - word processing, emails, internet. Aware of Safeguarding when working with young people. Basic knowledge of First Aid if possible. Awareness of Health and Safety issues. Competent Swimmer - Must be able to pass a lifesaving qualification when starting with the school (to include towing an individual along in the water and swimming to the bottom of a pool).

Previous apprentices have used the qualification as UCAS points to go to university and 3 previous apprentices have moved onto more advanced roles within the school.

Training to be provided:

Training for this qualification will be provided by ourselves at SCCU Group, an Ofsted good training provider. Our tuition is all delivered in the workplace and bespoke to your particular role.

Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport. Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard , 18 months practical with an additional 2 months End Point Assessment period. Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths, and English (if required).

Working Week and Hours:

37.5 hours per week (term-time only)


8:15am - 4:15pm (including 30 minutes break)


This can be flexible as long as 37.5 hours are completed per week.

Salary:

7.55 per hour for first 12 months. National Minimum Wage for the remaining time.
