School Sports Teaching Assistant Apprentice

Our Lady and St Teresa's Catholic Primary School, Windmill Hill, Cubbington, CV32 7LN

Wage:

7.55 per hour for the first 12 months followed by National Minimum Wage for age.

Working Hours:

8:45 - 4:30 Monday - Friday


In this role, you will build skills and experiences within the classroom, whilst also working alongside the PE Lead to develop the sporting provision within the school. Your role will see you working 1:1, in small groups and with whole classes to ensure the educational opportunities for all children are met.


This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced staff to learn the interpersonal and management skills needed to work with young people and adults whilst also being given the opportunity to share your own expertise and think creatively about how to help the school move forward with PE.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work alongside teachers and support staff to deliver engaging and motivating PE lessons, supervising and supporting the activities of individuals or groups of children/young people to ensure their safety and facilitate their physical and emotional development. Monitor individual pupil progress, achievements, problems, condition and development needs reporting to the responsible teacher as appropriate. Working with more able pupils to help them attain the highest level they can. Assist the teacher in the development, delivery and implementation of Individual Progression Plans for individuals or groups of children as well as preparing and delivering programmes to support Special Needs Assist the teacher with the planning of learning activities in the classroom and assist in equipment preparation for lessons in designated areas - preparing or modifying work for individuals or groups of pupils as directed. Provide support for local and national learning strategies and further raise the profile and enjoyment of sport within the school community Assist the teacher with the administration of baseline/tests and other assessments. Participate in personal and professional development activities to meet the changing demands of the job and encourage and support other staff in their development and training. Organise and run extra-curricular sports clubs Bring their own specialism to our school Help organise lunchtime games sessions or clubs Support the PE Leader in organising the participation of students in school activities, school clubs and school tournaments/competitions (both internal and external) Manage and train school team(s) Attend team events 'out of hours' (time given in lieu) Become an active part of our team, prepared to go the extra mile for the benefit of our school community Follow school policies and behave professionally Maintain confidentiality inside and outside the workplace You must have a clear DBS

Training for this qualification will be provided by ourselves at SCCU Group, an Ofsted good training provider. Our tuition is all delivered in the workplace and bespoke to your particular role.

Teaching Assistant with PE Specialism Level 3 Standard, 18 months practical with an additional 2 months End Point Assessment period. Functional Skills in Maths, and English (if required).
