Security Operations Manager- Main Development Site



Location: Sizewell C, Leiston, Suffolk (5 days a week onsite ).

Security clearance is essential for this role; the candidate must be able to pass the SC check.




Contract: Permanent, full-time.


Salary: Competitive depending on experience plus benefits.

About the Role




Are you a resilient leader with a passion for security and safety? SZC is seeking a

Security Operations Manager

to oversee and deliver risk-proportionate, cost-efficient security arrangements across our dynamic and fast-paced Main Development Site (MDS). This is a critical role in ensuring the safety of our people, property, and information throughout the lifetime of the project.


You'll be part of a collaborative team, influencing construction partners and internal stakeholders to embed a strong security culture and ensure the safety of deployed personnel remains a top priority.

Key Responsibilities



Lead the design and implementation of site-specific security plans aligned with SZC's strategy. Champion a culture of safety and security across all teams. Manage the MDS Security Risk Register and ensure effective mitigation strategies. Oversee integration of security principles into all works. Assure contractor compliance with SZC security protocols. Coordinate specialist security capabilities (e.g., canine units, drone detection). Lead incident response and investigations. Drive behavioural-based security culture and continuous improvement. Collaborate with cyber and information security teams for integrated protection. Deliver live reporting and intelligence dashboards. Ensure all decisions meet with legal, regulatory and internal control

What We're Looking For



Proven leadership in the security sector, ideally within large infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of physical security systems (Access Control, CCTV, IDS, Physical Barriers). Experience managing large-scale security contracts and budgets. Familiarity with Health & Safety and commercial contract management. Project Management expertise is highly desirable. Ability to influence and build partnerships across diverse teams. Familiarity with security methodologies and risk assessment tools. Technical Competencies Numerical and budgetary competency. Excellent communication and presentational skills.

Qualifications & Experience



Minimum L6 Security Qualification Relevant degree or equivalent qualification. Extensive project management experience. Experience in civil nuclear or similar regulated industries. Must be able to obtain NSV SC clearance.

Tools & Methodologies



Proficient in IT and SZC communications systems. Experience in using management tools (including mind mapping), and software including MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Visio.

Desirable



Leadership, Management, or Project Management qualifications. Previous nuclear construction experience. Desirable: protest management, intelligence analysis, construction site security.
