To assist with a variety of tasks which will assist the person who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.
About the individual:
A 79-year-old gentleman who lives at home with his wife, who works fulltime. He likes watching the telly and particularly enjoys horse racing. He also enjoys the daily paper, doing the crosswords and puzzles contained therein. He also enjoys listening to music. He has a large and extended family which he sees often.
The gentleman uses a wheelchair and has carers twice a day. In the morning the carers get him up washed and dressed. At lunchtime to provide lunch or a drink. He often needs help going to the toilet as unable to pull his trousers up. He can walk a very short distance the furthest being from the house to the car. Over the past few months, he has become a little wobbly on his feet and needs assistance by holding his arm to steady him. The gentleman had a stroke 9 years ago, which resulted in him losing the use of his left arm and leg, but we managed to get him walking again. Unfortunately, his arm is still paralysed. He is also being assessed for Vascular dementia. He is sometimes a bit grumpy given his circumstances, but usually aimable and pleasant. He has a dry sense of humour.
