Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable young children and adults with additional needs who are struggling to engage with education, employment or training in Herefordshire & Worcestershire?

As Bespoke Mentoring go into another year of growth, with an ever-increasing number of referrals for 11-25 year olds, with Education and Healthcare plans, we are looking to introduce a new role within our company.

We are looking to recruit SEN Mentors with previous experience of working with young people and adults with additional needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the ever-growing team at Bespoke Mentoring and Training Services, who currently offer Alternative Provision across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

We are looking for Mentors who will provide positive support and appropriate challenge, for people with a range of specific needs through high quality mentoring and creative learning opportunities. Our provision is based as term time only delivery, so contracts are similar to those in schools, where all School holidays are your holidays, and an annual salary is paid across 12 months.

Bespoke Mentoring have been supporting both children and adults across since 2017 and the main aim is to re-engage, develop and reintegrate into the School system, or society if older, at an appropriate point.

Our company works alongside numerous partners within the local community, whether that be referring services or specific intervention professionals, who are brought in to add additional support alongside our mentoring.

Our mentees benefit from staff who are confident and resilient, patient and nurturing and who want to help us to support our clients to thrive and develop into successful young people.

Successful applicants will be trained to take ownership of EHCP focused planning, assessment for learning and reporting. This will be a crucial element of the role.

SEN Mentors will work within a unique team, and under supportive management, to deliver high quality alternative educational provision for all who join us.

Bespoke Mentoring is committed to providing continuous professional development for all staff and encourage a supportive, motivating, and engaging working environment.

All applicants must be qualified to NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants or Level 3 in Health and Social care or equivalent and be able to evidence this.

Prior experience in the supporting of achieving EHCP targets will be desirable but not essential for these roles.

Life experiences also matter too. Your knowledge and transferable skills are how you can help and support the people who we work with. Relationship building is an important part of the role which having adaptable social skills in different situations. If you have not had previous experiences in a mentoring role, full training will be offered during induction.

We are specifically looking for people who exhibit our values of Love, Support and Guidance as this is at the core of what we do and who we are.

This isn't a School, this is an alternative provision offering support to Schools, Councils and other partners build up people's life skills and confidence through mentoring. We don't use a traditional School building as we see this as a threat to engagement, so we creatively access facilities in the local community to enable learning and personal development.

Weekly delivery consists of mentoring, curriculum/learning delivery, planning and assessment of outcomes. Our whole team is expected to work to deadlines, contribute to risk assessments and be effective decision makers both during and away from delivery.

We are very aware of the role Bespoke Mentoring plays in the safeguarding of all its mentees, so we do recruit using rigorous safer recruitment practices where background screening and full background checks including work history and references will be sought after and checked, before the award of any contracts.

Essential

Be able to create positive, honest relationships in a short space of time Confidence in your ability to take ownership of situations you may come across Level 2 Teaching assistant, level 3 in health and social care or level 2 sports coaching or equivariant training Has evidence of planning provision of some sort on a one to one or group basis - in previous roles such as sports coach, teaching or assisting teaching, running people focus projects etc. Being able to plan and understand SEN needs.
Desirable

An outside interest that can be brought into your mentoring, fitness, music, cooking, sports, gaming, etc. A clear understanding of what safeguarding is within our context.

Our term time only contracts enable you to work around your family commitments and enjoy school holidays. If successful you would be paid every month as you would in a school setting.
