Special Educational Needs (SEN) Tutor



Position Overview



We are seeking experienced and compassionate SEN Tutors to provide high-quality, personalized support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Tuition will be delivered on a

1:1 basis

at the student's home or in community settings (e.g., libraries). This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' learning and development.

Key Responsibilities



- Deliver tailored 1:1 tuition sessions focused on individual student needs, goals, and learning styles.

- Plan and adapt lessons to accommodate a range of SEND, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning difficulties.

- Monitor progress, provide feedback, and collaborate with parents/carers and schools where appropriate.

- Create a supportive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

Required Skills and Experience



- Proven experience as a tutor or educator working with students with SEND.

- In-depth knowledge of SEND frameworks, strategies, and how to differentiate instruction to meet diverse needs (e.g., visual aids, sensory supports, behavioral interventions).

- Strong communication, patience, and empathy to build rapport with students and families.

- Excellent organizational skills for planning sessions and tracking progress.

- Ability to work independently and flexibly in home or community-based settings.

Qualifications and Background



- Experienced tutors with a track record in SEND education are essential.

- We also welcome candidates from caring backgrounds (e.g., support workers, healthcare assistants, or youth workers) who are passionate about transitioning into a teaching career.

- Candidates must hold a relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)

or be prepared to obtain one

.

Additional Requirements



- Appointment is subject to

satisfactory references and enhanced background checks

(including DBS).

- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to students' homes or local community venues.

Working Hours and Conditions



- Flexible hours available between 0800 and 1700.

Term time only

- no work during school holidays.
