The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting pupils with special educational needs, ensuring they have access to the appropriate resources, interventions, and guidance to flourish in their learning environment. Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement
Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
tailored to the specific needs of each student.
Collaborate with teachers, parents and external professionals to devise and maintain effective support strategies.
Monitor, assess, and report on the progress of pupils receiving additional support, making timely adjustments as required.
Deliver training to staff on best practices in special education and behaviour management techniques.
Provide one-to-one or small group
tutoring in core subjects
.
Work in conjunction with speech and language therapists to facilitate
speech therapy sessions
, where appropriate.
Maintain detailed and accurate records of pupil progress, interventions and outcomes in line with school policies and procedures.
Experience and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
Experience within a similar educational setting in mainstream, pupil referral unit or an alternative provision.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and colleagues from all thematic groups.
A proven track record in implementing
behaviour management strategies
tailored to diverse learning needs.
A background in special education or a closely related field is essential.
Experience in mentoring roles, supporting both pupils and teaching staff.
A genuine passion for working with children and a deep commitment to supporting the development and well-being of those with special educational needs.
You will need to hold valid QTS and the National Professional Qualification or have the willingness to work towards this.
