Overview

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Senior CDP/Junior Sous to join our dynamic kitchen team, in a busy seafood/Italian restaurant and take away in the heart of East Lothian. This role is ideal for an individual who is eager to advance their culinary career while contributing to a vibrant restaurant environment.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in meal preparation, food safety, and advancing their skills, while ensuring that our high standards of quality and service are consistently met.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals according to the restaurant's menu and standards. Ensure all food safety regulations and hygiene practices are strictly followed. Support the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, including inventory control and stock management. Help train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative team environment. Participate in menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas for new dishes. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained. Assist with food preparation tasks as needed, demonstrating versatility across various kitchen stations.

Requirements

Proven experience in a similar role within a restaurant or culinary setting. Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in food preparation. Excellent culinary skills with a passion for cooking and meal preparation. Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. A proactive attitude towards learning new techniques and improving culinary skills. Flexibility to work various shifts as required by the restaurant's operational needs.
