Location: Glasgow, HQ
This is a temporary position expecting to start from June 2025 and last for 12 months. This role is to cover maternity leave for our current Senior Commercial Analyst.

Role
As we progress through RIIO-ED2, SP Energy Networks are relying more than ever on new and innovative alternatives to traditional network solutions this means we must think creatively about how we can use commercial solutions to solve network challenges, as well as innovative technical solutions, and about new ways to set up and manage our commercial and contractual relationships. We will be contracting with customers to adjust their demand and generation flexibly within network design limits; we will be working hand-in-hand with local authorities and government to optimise energy and electricity infrastructure alongside local community planning; and we will be applying new affordable connection charging regimes to enable societies transition to Net Zero at least cost. And we must do all of this whilst protecting SPENs customers and shareholders interests with sharp commercial acuity and a thorough understanding of the risks and opportunities of entering new and novel commercial arrangements.
You will be at the centre of this journey, leading and shaping our new strategies, policies and processes, systems and people to ensure we succeed on behalf of our customers and shareholders.
What youll be doing
Support the implementation of SPENs Whole System (WS) Strategy and the development of Whole System Approaches / Thinking within the business e.g., the development of the Whole System Operating Framework, including associated reporting, governance, processes and controls for SPEN.
Support the development of a WS Culture across SPEN, looking to embed it in our policies, processes and approach to delivery. This will include defining and implementing WS processes across SPEN, to comply with Licence requirements and strategy commitments.
Lead on projects that result from collaboration opportunities with our Strategic Partners.
Communicate the impact of major changes in commercial policy, activities, contracts, agreements and impacts to key internal and external stakeholders.
Undertake and support wider WS approaches across all existing, changing and new business policies and processes to ensure adequate support, documentation, process guidance and training is provided for technical and commercial staff at all levels of the business.
Support major business changes across internal policy and processes; accurately reflecting changes as set by licence, industry code and methodology updates.
Ensure the effective management and delivery of WS outcomes through ownership of key strategic projects such as technical and commercial projects.
Delivery of ongoing business support, wider business engagement, strategic communications, internal stakeholder management, and overall business readiness.
Contribute to commercial communication and engagement with key stakeholders, supporting commercial teams with risk management and implementation of commercial changes, including new governance models and ensuring positive influencing at all levels: Iberdrola, SP Energy Networks Holdings Limited (SPENHL), SPEN Executive, and business as usual (BAU) organisation stakeholders.
Attend Industry working groups, business summits and other means of influencing industry direction.
What youll bring
Experience of distribution network planning, project delivery and an appreciation of contract management commercial practises;
Knowledge and understanding of the future developments of the power network and SPENs RIIO-ED2 plans and strategies;
High level business planning, financial awareness and strategic thinking;
Effective at leading and managing change and creating a culture of engagement and positivity;
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the abilities to influence and persuade effectively;
High degree of emotional intelligence, including good listening skills, tact, diplomacy and political awareness;
High level analytical skills and numeracy;
Ability to prioritise and manage a diverse and demanding workload;
A track record of delivery, ideally in a relevant area of activity;
An understanding of effective partnership working with large external organisations;
