Legal plays an important role in protecting the Group\xe2\x80\x99s reputation by helping to future-proof the organisation through robust legal risk and issue advisory. Responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice to senior management and all businesses and functions, the team offers a diverse range of legal skills, jurisdictional experience and practice specialisms across all countries and territories in which our businesses operate.

The Alternatives business within Asset Management has a clear growth and transformation agenda in terms of development of new products, targeting of new client sectors and growth of assets under management (AUM) and revenue. These targets are challenging and the business will require substantial and effective legal support in achieving them.

In this role you will:

  • Provide legal support for the HSBC Alternative funds business supporting fund establishments, fund investments and mandates.
  • Advise and assist in the implementation of legislation, regulations and best practice relating to alternative funds and their marketing and distribution.
  • Manage legal risk in relation to the Global Alternatives business in accordance with group policy requirements.
  • Support HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s Conduct Policy to ensure good client outcomes and to fully participate in and support the strategic objectives of HSBC Asset Management, and the objectives of the wider HSBC Legal Function. This includes supporting the creation of a supportive, inclusive and enabling working environment.
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
  • Experienced qualified lawyer
  • Experience and knowledge of either fund establishment or fund investment in relevant alternative asset classes, mainly real estate, private equity, private credit, infrastructure debt and venture capital.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise different workloads
  • Maintain successful and mutually supportive working relationships with members of AM Legal and wider HSBC Legal team
This role is based in London - Hybrid.
