Job Description


We are currently working with one of the UK\'s largest privately owned multidisciplinary engineering businesses, who have worked on various innovative engineering solutions and are looking to expand their team by hiring a Senior Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer Yorkshire, specifically Hull.

As a Senior Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer, you will be working alongside skilled multi-discipline design teams. You shall be integral to delivering mechanical packages from the feasibility stage right the way through to construction in a varying range of applications. In this role your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Receiving the Clients brief and formulate a design philosophy.
  • Assist with the compilation of the fee for design delivery.
  • Provide working design solutions to technical problems.
  • Participate within design review meetings and hazard workshops etc.
  • Liaise with client representatives & 3rd parties.
  • Manage members of the design team to ensure the timely delivery of information, ensuring the work completed is of a high standard.
  • Utilise design software, including AutoCAD, Hevacomp and Microsoft Suite.
  • Use AutoCAD 2D to produce detailed design drawings and preferably be experienced in 3D packages such as Revit or AecoSIM.
  • A working knowledge of CDM regulations to ensure that designs are compliant and be able to produce Designers Risk Assessments for projects.
  • Produce written reports and specifications for works.
  • Undertake site surveys and compile reports, especially as projects are integrated with existing infrastructure and buildings.
  • Assess existing utilities.
  • Coordinate the appointment of sub consultants/specialists necessary to complete the design process.
  • Mentor and help develop the skills of the Mechanical Building Services Design team.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of HNC/HND in Mechanical Building Services or equivalent vocational qualifications.
  • Previous experience in a building services role in a design office environment .
  • Previous experience of Railway Infrastructure projects would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Training on BIM Systems can be provided.
