The Role - Senior Mechanical Estimator

You will be responsible for preparing accurate, winning mechanical-only tenders for HVAC, plumbing, public health, ventilation, heating, and associated systems on fast-track and traditional projects.

Key Responsibilities

Produce detailed mechanical cost estimates and tenders from 100k - 6m+ Perform quantity take-offs from mechanical drawings (AutoCAD/Revit) and specifications Build rates from first principles (labour, materials, plant, subcontract packages) Source and negotiate supplier/subcontractor quotations (ductwork, pipework, AHUs, chillers, boilers, pumps, valves, insulation, BMS controls, etc.) Prepare full bills of quantities, cost plans, budgets, and value engineering options Support the sales team with technical submissions, clarifications, and client presentations Carry out site surveys when required to verify tender information Identify risks and opportunities with formal reporting

Essential Requirements

5+ years' experience as a Mechanical Estimator or Senior Mechanical Estimator within mechanical building services contracting Proven track record pricing pure mechanical packages (HVAC, heating, ventilation, plumbing, public health, domestic services, chilled water systems) In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems and installation methods Proficient reading mechanical drawings and specifications Strong commercial acumen, numeracy, analytical, and negotiation skills Experience using estimating software (Conquest, Trimble, Estimation, Cymap, etc.) highly advantageous Excellent communication skills - client-facing and internal

Desirable

Experience in fast-track CAT A / CAT B fit-outs or similar sectors HNC/HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
