Brief Description







There is an exciting opportunity to join us in a role that is vital to our success. We are looking for a Senior Network Delivery Manager to join our East Coast Operations team.


You will act as the strategic duty leader of the Route Control team, maximising delivery of performance across the network on a shift basis to achieve the best outcome for all operators, whilst minimising overall delay through implementation of train service contingency plans and train service management protocols.

About the role (External)



Role and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:




Assume strategic command of the rail network during major safety and performance incidents acting as Rail Incident Commander where appropriate.

Direct communications to the Route Executive team, National Operations Centre and senior stakeholders in regard to restoration and recovery of the network. Direct development and implementation of real time strategic plans to achieve recovery targets using industry resources. 4. Lead incident reviews giving appropriate consideration to customer needs, Network Rail and train operators' positions and establish a system to monitor and review the implementation of recommendations and the effect on future performance.


Accountable for maximising performance of the network at all times and lead the restoration of the timetable for all Operators by agreeing intervention strategies.

6. Lead the dissemination of safety critical and other information. Introduce and maintain a system of recording operational safety and performance incident information in accordance with the relevant company standards, procedures and statutory requirements, to provide safety, performance and management reporting information at the required frequencies.


7. Lead and direct the route co-ordination of pre-agreed plans for event management, engineering works, weather management and other risks in order to protect the delivery of the network.


8. Oversee the on-shift control team to enable professional standards to be maintained, deliver the best balance between network availability, maintenance requirements, passenger and Train Operator needs.


9. Lead the real time response to operational security issues and incidents as well as managing the integrity of sensitive operational and security documentation.


10. Facilitate lessons learnt reviews following major or significant incidents leading to trackable actions across the industry to improve response to future incidents.





ABOUT THE ROLE:




Are you?




Proven strategic leadership skills

Successful experience of and skilled in root cause analysis

Able to demonstrate real time incident planning skills

Excellent communication skills

Successful experience of incident management at strategic and tactical level for stations, trains, track areas and worksites on the railway

Successful experience of implementing emergency plans

Holistic and geographical understanding of the railway which enables rapid management of the incident and minimises impacts more widely to the network

Ability to build strong relationships to obtain the most appropriate advice and guidance


Do you have?




Knowledge of relevant railway industry communication systems

In depth understanding of temporary rules and impacts of engineering work

In depth knowledge of the operational rule book and appropriate engineering standards and legislative framework

Operational knowledge of different stocks, engineer's vehicles and signalling systems (traditional and new) across the railway

Membership to a relevant professional association (for example Institute of the Railway Operators)

Salary and benefits:




o Salary of 71,163 - 84,437 (Band 2.B) depending on skills, qualifications and experience


o 28 days annual leave entitlement plus bank holidays
