Band 7 Senior Network Engineer 6 month fixed term contract
UHNM have a requirement for a Senior Network Engineer to join our newly established Network Services Team. The role will support the Principle Network and Telephony Engineer in the successful delivery of the internal Network services. The aim of this role is to provide technical Network support for the systems and services used by the UHNM, as well as partners of the Trust, resolving incidents passed from 1 st /2nd line support in order to maintain 'business as usual'. Where appropriate, involvement in project implementation will also be required. Senior Engineers work as part of a team providing support to Principal Network and Telephony Engineer and the Head of Network Infrastructure in delivering the data network services across the whole of the Trust to ensure the provision of an efficient and reliable 24 hour, 365 day service.
To provide specialist support in the operational management, implementation, maintenance of data communication networks and projects assisting in the provision of continuous and acceptable service to all end users, including management and on-site supervision of approved third party service providers and contractors as well as support of the Network Engineers.
To provide support in delivering cabling requirements to provide long term resilient infrastructures capable of supporting the joint needs for data and Telecommunications.
To provide support in the production and enforcement of policies and procedures covering security and integrity of the Trust's communication systems and networks to protect against unauthorised access or loss of revenue through system fraud.
To contribute to the production of reports and presentations as appropriate UHNM and Partner Organisations.
The post holder is accountable to the Head of Network Infrastructure under the management of the Principal Network Engineers as team leader and works closely with other managers and staff within UHNM.
Understand, disseminate and then presents highly complicated information, of an often contentious or sensitive nature to clinicians and senior levels of management.

To carry out the installation and commissioning of network equipment involving some complex work with tools, some lifting of heavy equipment and requiring significant keyboard skills to ensure accuracy when programming this. Occasionally this will involve working in dirty and difficult areas
The post holder will be required to contribute to the development and implementation of Key Performance Indicators and Critical Success Factors within the Directorate.
Implements Data policies and procedures and proposes changes when required. Proposed changes may impact on other functions and departments.
All staff have the responsibility to ensure they participate fully in a performance review and appraisal process ensuring that any key work objectives, targets, key performance indicators are reviewed on a regular basis with their line manager and contribute to an end of year performance appraisal.
The post holder will develop appropriate objectives and performance plans for themselves, ensuring that these align with overall IM aims and objectives, SLAs & OLAs and adhere to national and locally defined targets and standards.
To provide leadership to staff demonstrating high standards in order to ensure that a high quality of service is maintained.
Able to analyse, investigate and interpret complex information / issues such as hardware configurations, performing comparisons and trend analysis on this factual or projected data, and then report that information accordingly.
