This is a remote based role that will involve occasional travel to business offices across the UK as per business needs.
Purpose of the Role
This exciting remote based opportunity will lead on all networking aspects of Low Level and High-Level Designs for Infrastructure services within the IT Operations team. A Network Infrastructure expert, you will collaborate with Engineers and Architects on projects and maintaining BAU. A third line support you will also lead technical investigations into complex issues through to conclusion, review new technology, provide recommendations and line manage a small team of engineers.
What you will do
This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Collaborating with your Line Manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following and more:
Scoping, planning, documenting, and implementing of technologies as required to the highest standards.
Lead as a Network technical subject matter expert, providing guidance and knowledge to the IT Operations.
Produce Low Level and High-Level Network Design documentation for all project workstreams as required.
Deliver customer and stakeholder management to all those with an interest in any works undertaken
Research Cloud and Network solutions through internal and external knowledge base, as needed.
Liaise with business, vendors and other IT personnel for the progression of change works.
Escalate issues with accurate documentation to suitable technical expert or vendor, when required.
Create knowledge articles for project solutions to be used for future support.
Provide suggestions for continual improvement.
Day to day line management and running of the Field Delivery Engineers and Network Engineers, including managing workloads, escalation and communication of status and challenges to higher management.
Who we are looking for
This is an opportunity for an experienced Senior Network Leader who is willing work as part of a team and manage stakeholders at all levels. We are looking for someone has:
Networking knowledge and experience, with LAN, WAN and data communication systems, with emphasis on SDWAN technologies.
Cloud network and Azure infrastructure monitoring knowledge.
Experience of Enterprise Voice Solutions (BT CloudWorks used in the network).
Branch office network design incorporating ISE technologies, circuit provision design and sizing.
In depth understanding of our networking stack (or at least some aspects): Cisco Meraki, Cisco ISE, BT SDWAN, InfoBlox, Cisco FTD Firewalls, Azure Firewalls.
Solid foundation in security to design and manage secure network systems effectively.
Solid Understanding of IAM principles, including user authentication and authorization, vital for controlling access to network resources.
Solid understanding of storage technologies to effectively design and manage network infrastructures that support data storage and retrieval.
General M365 knowledge and experience of network integration with its services.
Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code - Terraform/Ansible.
Demonstrate excellent knowledge and experience of multi cloud technologies
General on-Premise Active Directory and Microsoft Entra knowledge and experience
General device management using SCCM/Intune and administration knowledge and experience
Ability to analyse network infrastructure, highlighting area of risk and put forward suggestions for systems improvements.
