Responsibilities
Assist the Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations and managing staff.
Take full responsibility in the absence of the Head Chef in the day to day running of the kitchen.
Supervise food preparation and cooking processes to ensure quality and consistency.
Train and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
Collaborate with the Head Chef on menu planning and development.
Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
Handle special dietary requests and ensure all dishes meet customer expectations.
Participate in cooking during peak service times to support the team.
Covering Holidays and Overtime where necessary.
Requirements
Proven experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry, preferably in a restaurant setting.
Strong culinary skills with knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines.
Experience in supervising and managing kitchen staff effectively.
Excellent leadership abilities, with a focus on team management and motivation.
Familiarity with food safety practices and regulations is essential.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise effectively with team members and other departments.
