Caraston Hall Support Ltd provides a range supported living services in different locations across Exeter and in Exminster for adults who have a diagnosed mental illness, learning disability and/or Autism. It is rewarding and varied work.

A rare opportunity has arisen within supported living service in Exeter for a full time Senior Support Worker.

We are looking for a full-time experienced senior support worker or team leader who is flexible, committed, and demonstrates compassion and care for people with suffering with mental health problems. The role requires working within a team and as an individual. All staff receive excellent support and regular supervision. This is a varied and interesting role that would suit someone who would like to progress in their career in the social care sector.

What the job role entails:



This senior role involves:

Providing leadership and support to a team of mental health support workers. Overseeing the Health and Safety tasks relevant for the service you are working as delegated by the Service Manager. These can include fire drills, food hygiene checks, property maintenance schedules etc. Providing on-call out of hours support. The on-call is shared with the Deputy Manager and the Service Manager. Acting as the shift coordinator which includes managing the diary, staff rota and allocating the daily tasks. Carrying out individual need/risk assessments; develop person centred support/care plans with the clients and others involved in their support/care; and carry out regular reviews, ensuring excellent standards and successful outcomes for clients Conducting monthly health and safety audits. Carrying out weekly medication audits. Provide support/care through person centred approaches that reflect agreed shorter and longer term goals as stated within client support/care plans
Ideally you will have experience in working in a mental health setting and are able to advise and lead on providing high quality support for clients diagnosed with long term mental illness.

Qualifications



Supervising experience. Leadership skills. Proficiency in creating and implementing care plans Excellent communication skills Experience in mental health in a care home or supported living setting. Familiarity with IT systems for record-keeping and documentation. NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care.

Hours and Salary:



The role is 37.5 hours a week worked on a rolling shift basis including some weekends. Pay is 13.66 per hour There is an additional enhanced payment of 1.50 per hour (15.16) for any hours worked on a Saturday after 5.30pm, all hours worked on a Sunday and any additional overtime.
