The successful applicant will be expected to work in the office a minimum of 1 day a week (Tuesday), As a Delivery Manager it is expected that on occasions this frequency of in office attendance will increase due to running face to face workshops, agile ceremonies, training and team collaboration sessions.

The UKRI website, ukri.org, is a key external communications channel for the organisation. It is the front door to many other UKRI services and enables the research and innovation community to find the right funding opportunities and support. The website raises awareness of UKRI strategy, policy, and tells the story of our impact on society and the economy.


The Senior Web Delivery Manager sits in the Web team, part of External Affairs and Communications.


The Web team is a multidisciplinary team of content, product and delivery experts. We use data and evidence to drive the continuous improvement of the website making it simpler and easier for people to understand and use.


This is an exciting time for the team as we evolve our web content strategy and content operations to support a usable, sustainable, accessible website into the future.


As the Senior Web Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for the effective delivery and prioritisation of web team content workload, liaising with content subject matter experts across the organisation.

Job description




As Senior Web Delivery Manager, you will ensure effective and efficient operational management and continuous improvement of ukri.org. You should have good understanding of the content lifecycle and operations within a large, complex organisation including how content is developed, collaborating with content designers, developers and product experts.


You will:

Plan, prioritise and manage the delivery of web content activity across ukri.org using a combination of tools, your knowledge of the UKRI website proposition, variations of Agile and other appropriate methodologies Liaise and coordinate across the External Affairs and Communications team and wider UKRI ensuring the website is managed in line with strategic priorities and Web team capacity, and that Web team reputation is maintained Lead on the management, development and external supplier relationships for the web helpdesk product and be an expert user and Web team champion of our workload and project management tool, Asana Understand and be able to advise colleagues on the web content format options available and the most appropriate format for external and internal needs Line manage two reports, overseeing their learning and development and ensuring they are motivated and effective Support and coach team members, facilitating continuous improvement, collaboration and communication to achieve effective outcomes Proactively manage risks, dependencies, and develop mitigations to get the best value from the Web team and website within organisational constraints Use evaluation techniques, reporting and data to support the improvement of Web team capacity planning and drive the most effective outcomes for UKRI Implement and manage new and existing workflows, methodologies, tools and ways of working Build a network of internal and external stakeholders, forming strong constructive working relationships at all levels Manage stakeholder expectations through negotiation and facilitation to achieve effective outcomes Delivery of workshops and training to colleagues acting as an advocate for the website Support and contribute to UKRI's culture and overall strategy

Skills and experience



Essential:



Preferably hold a degree in a related subject or equivalent relevant experience (S) Agile practitioner or similar qualification (S) (I) Knowledge of the content lifecycle and operations for a large, complex product or service (S) (I) Experience in a delivery role making strategic decisions about prioritisation of content workload (S) (I) Understanding and experience of continuously improving team workflows and processes (S) (I) Able to drive effective outcomes using data and evidence (S) (I) Effective communication and collaboration skills and ability to successfully negotiate with stakeholders to ensure productive working relationships (S) (I) Experience of using appropriate tools for the situation to deliver team roadmap and objectives (S) (I)

Desirable:



Skilled user of planning tools such as Fresh Service, Asana and Miro (S&I) Experience of devising and implementing organisational workflows and processes (S&I) Experience of working in delivery for a user-centred design team including content designers, user researchers and product managers. (S&I) Experience of capacity management (S&I)
