Sheet-metal factory operative

Exciting opportunity for an experienced sheet-metal factory operative to join a highly-skilled production team.

Cableduct is an award-winning manufacturer of standard and bespoke cable management systems, specialising in high quality floor boxes. These are installed in high end residential (Buckingham Palace), retail (Harrods, Burberry) hospitality (Peninsula Hotel) and office spaces (80 Charlotte St Fitzrovia W1) in the UK and worldwide. Our customers, our brand and our quality are at the heart of everything we do.

We are a family business and manufacture our products at our factory in Croydon. This is a small, entrepreneurial business in which you will have to think on your feet. Therefore, someone who enjoys a busy day and working as part of a team will do well.

This permanent full-time role is based in our factory in Croydon and is an opportunity for the candidate with the right skills and attitude to build a successful career in metal fabrication and manufacturing. Applicants must live locally, ideally within a 30-minute commute.

Main duties

Maintain safe and clean working environment Fabricate and assemble metal floor-boxes and cable management products Sheet metal and fabrication activities include working with machinery in these two departments: Assembly: measuring using a vernier, hand tools, spot welder, fly press, bushing machine, notching, linishing, grinding, band saw and drills Manufacturing: folding, punching, guillotining, drilling, spot welding, manual tooling, bushing, notching, fly pressing of our sheet-metal products and measuring using appropriate tools if required Use correct equipment to fabricate and assemble all parts Liaise proactively with your Supervisor and team to keep on track and address issues
Ideally, you will have the following approach, experience and ambitions

Minimum 2-3 years in a manufacturing and metal fabrication environment Experience of fabrication within building products sector Professional, well-organised and proactive member of the team Focus on accuracy and attention to detail
Pay and conditions

Salary: competitive starting salary, depending on experience

Bonus schemes

Monthly bonus of 10% of salary if company hits sales revenue target (we hit target every month last financial year but assume we hit target 10 out of every 12 months) Quarterly bonus based on share of profits made by the company (paid every quarter depending on profit achieved)
25 days holiday plus public holidays

Working hours

39 hours per week. Monday to Thursday: 8am-4.30; Friday 8am-3.30pm No weekends
Breaks during the day:

30 minute break for lunch at 13.00 - unpaid 10 minute break at 10am - paid
There is no parking at the factory

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 39 per week
