Job Description

We are looking for a Contractor to fulfil the role of the Principal Contractor from a Health & Safety prospective who is reliable, friendly and a team player to manage works at a food processing plant, based Glasgow.

Contract to start immediately for 6 months.

Weekends to be paid at time and a half

The ideal candidate will have experience in planning, managing Health and Safety on a construction project and will include liaising with the client's Project Manager and Principal Designer to ensure safety is maintained over the construction site. The adjoining food factory will remain live for the duration of the works.

Essential Criteria:

Health & Safety knowledge, demonstrated by your qualifications or work experience

Good working knowledge of Office IT packages

Excellent communication skills

Pragmatic and ability to solve problems

Ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload

Ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team

Flexibility to keep project on schedule

Key Responsibilities:

Consult and engage with workers health, safety and welfare

Carry out contractors inductions

Co-ordinate contractors - to ensure they are able to work alongside each other

Ensure company and clients covid procedures are adhered to

Liaise with the factory's safety and technical officers

Prepare construction phase plan, implement and carry out regular reviews

Compile health & safety files for handover and at the end of each stage

Establish and maintain appropriate administrative, manual and computerised filing systems to support the relevant activities

Maintain records of work, and assist the Project Manager in the prioritisation of work

Issue daily permits

Willingness to help client with things not directly connected to the project.

Any other duties as required

Ideal candidates should have:

CITB Site Management Safety Training (SMSTS)

Or Nebosh Certificate

3 Day First Aid

Pay: 200.00-250.00 per day
