Overall Purpose of the Job:



The Job holder will be required to assist the chef in food preparation, stock control, and facilities management. He or she should also specialise in preparing various Bengali and Indian speciality dishes.

Key Activities and Accountabilities:



Specific Main Duties



Assist in the selection and storing of stock, including the verification of deliveries; To perform all other appropriate duties within the overall function of the job; Check the temperature settings; The kitchen area (floors, cookers, etc.) is clutter-free; To aid with the preparing of food, i.e., cleaning/cutting/marinating; Carry out regular maintenance tests on cooking appliances; Precisely measuring dish ingredients and serving sizes; To replenish the stock of ingredients in the preparation areas; Participation in training courses as needed; Ensure a high standard of health and safety, cleanliness, and food sanitation, and ensure that adequate workplace procedures are practised. Report any issues to the Chef or Senior Chef in Charge.

General Duties



Cooking and finishing complex made-to-order various peri-peri and grill dishes and delicacies using fresh raw ingredients and traditional cooking methods and techniques Preparing recipes of complex marinades, concentrated stock, herb & spice blends, and ingredient fusions as formulated by the Culinary Designer and/or Head /Sous Chef. Handling and maintenance of specialist ovens and related equipment. Ensures the highest food quality appropriate to the market and assists in all areas of kitchen operations Ensures proper staffing and adequate supplies for all stations Works closely with other Chefs to ensure correct preparation and delivery times are kept, and food quality is maintained Assures adequate safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices are followed Assists in checking and ordering fresh products and dry storage items required by the kitchen Training, supervision and mentoring of junior kitchen staff Compiling reports as required In charge of section within and up to stated full-time working hours

Job Knowledge and Qualifications:



Experience



Eligibility to live and work in the UK Required level of English literacy High calibre skills in preparing traditional and contemporary tandoori dishes and specialities originating from the Indian subcontinent Relevant professional accreditation and culinary qualification Hands-on, task orientated and resourceful Minimum three years experience as a skilled chef or relevant experience.

IELTS Score 4.0 or equivalent RQF3 level or equivalent (A Level or equivalent qualification) Relevant professional accreditation and qualification

Salary:

Minimum 38700 (depending on experience)
